Goals and Objectives

  • Encourage routine use of mutual aid channels, patching, gateways, and encryption for all disciplines and jurisdictions
  • Collect documentation
  • Develop and distribute model SOPs and best practices for interoperable mutual aid communications
  • Obtain stakeholder buy-in for interoperability solutions
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies that can be implemented into interoperable communications
  • Identify regions in need of communications training committees and support those committees with educational materials and information on training opportunities
  • Establish a repository for training materials, TICPs and AARs
  • Update and add communications curriculum currently hosted on COTrain and other sources
  • Evaluate AARs from communications exercises to determine the effectiveness and provide feedback to the regional committees and to the PSCS
  • Participate in and promote COML/COMT training, deployment and completion of task books
  • Maintain and use deployable interoperable communications assets
  • Outreach and education to key stakeholders
  • Sustainable funding for continued operation, enhancement and replacement of communications systems
