Colorado DHSEM is excited to announce the decision to deliver the Colorado Academy for Professional Emergency Managers (CAPEM) beginning in November of 2022 to run three (3) days every other month (12 days in total) and culminate with a final capstone presentation and completion ceremony in May of 2023.
The academy has been redesigned to provide a forum for career emergency managers to exchange ideas for the advancement of statewide programs. The format will consist of agency briefings and updates, discussion panels, leadership training opportunities, and keynote speakers on current relevant topics in Colorado. The academy will provide networking opportunities with emergency management professionals across the state and will culminate with a capstone project. Contact hours and credit for project work will be documented to be used toward obtaining professional certifications.
Application and Letter of Commitment
If you are interested in attending we are asking that you please send an email with Academy Intent in the subject line to crystal.christensen@state.co.us acknowledging that you will be applying by May 20, 2022. The final selection of candidates selected to attend will be announced on June 1, 2022.
All applicants must have a letter of commitment signed by their direct supervisor (see attached). Please attach a signed copy of your letter of commitment on your organizational letterhead to your email.

The target audience is Colorado career local and tribal emergency managers.

- Session 3: March 7-9, 2023
- Session 4: May 16-18, 2023
Location
The location of the academy has not been finalized. It will be held in the Centennial, Colorado area.
