The Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management is hosting a National Emergency Management Basic Academy (NEMBA) program at our main office in Centennial, Colorado. The academy begins in February 2023, however, the registration deadline is December 1, 2022.

Registration

How to Register for the Course: Registration for this course can be found online you will register for each course online with EMI at https://training.fema.gov/netc_online_admissions/.

Application Review: To be evaluated for admission into this course, block #16 on the application form must be completed. Please refer to the Target Audience above and indicate how you meet the requirements based on your position and experience.

Prerequisites

Twelve online Independent Study courses are required as prerequisites to the classroom courses. All eleven must be completed before submitting an application for E/L0101 and IS-29 must be completed before submitting an application for E/L0105.

  • IS-29: Public Information Officer Awareness (a prerequisite for E/L0105)
  • IS-100: Introduction to the Incident Command System
  • IS-120: Introduction to Exercise
  • IS-200: ICS for Single Resources
  • IS-230: Fundamentals of Emergency Management
  • IS-235: Emergency Planning
  • IS-240: Leadership and Influencing
  • IS-241: Decision Making
  • IS-242: Effective Communication
  • IS-244: Developing and Managing Volunteers
  • IS-700: National Incident Management System, An Introduction
  • IS-800: National Response Framework, An Introduction

Target Audience

The target audience is Colorado career local and tribal emergency managers. The basic academy is designed for newly appointed emergency managers with less than three years of experience, including members of a state, local, tribal, and territorial homeland security or emergency services programs; Nongovernmental organizations, voluntary agencies, or professional organizations; Private sector emergency management offices; College or university emergency management staff; and FEMA, federal partners, military and emergency managers at other departments or agencies.

  • April 24 – April 25, 2023: L0146 HSEEP
    • Registration Deadline: December 1, 2023
  • April 26 – April 28, 2023: L0105 Public Information Basic
    • Registration Deadline: December 1, 2023
